There is a time set aside for everything in Barcelona. In fact, they have gone one further here and inserted a few extras in the day, so not only do you get to eat breakfast, have a long leisurely lunch and an even longer dinner but they have put in a pre lunch drink and snack (vermouth) and pre dinner snacks in the form of tapas. So really there is no need for takeaway coffee because there is nowhere to rush off to.
Except there is a need. Craft coffee options being what they are here (few and far between) all new openings are eagerly anticipated and welcomed. With Syra’s location in Gracia – it’s an alternative to Onna’s should you find it over run (which it often is). Or a welcome spot to perch on a stool and flick through the shop’s collection of magazines.
There are twee Moroccan pastries to go with the coffee and you can help yourself to the cucumber or lemon water (always a nice touch). Everyone is asked if they want one shot or two in their coffee and most ask for one, which makes sense I suppose, they don’t have to be as dosed up on caffeine as their Northern European cousins since like I said, the pace of the place is played out in adagio.
