Oh Bo Cafe organic is located in the posh pocket of Barcelona, the area of Sarrià around the Jardins de Piscines i Esports. Between the affluent Turó Park and the busy Ronda del General Mitre. There are wide roads, plenty of green and a suburbaness that makes it hard to believe that this is all minutes away from the heaving Placa de Francesc Macià.
Another obvious give away is the ‘bag preceding and heralding the (importance of the) person walk’. Un-common here in Barcelona but typical of large areas of London, Miami, New York. It goes something like this; door opens, a (usually) large bag of clear denomination (Louis Vuitton, Channel what-have-you) enters the room displayed on a slim arm, attached to which is a woman (any age) who keeps herself maintained and makes me immediately note down in my notebook “get roots done”. They order a green juice. They have two mobile phones. There are also businessmen, in suits – using free wi-fi. That’s during the week.
On the weekend at Oh Bo Café, it’s different, the abuelas are out in force, with strings of pearls and set silver hair. Children and babies neatly bundled in navy and grey.
They are here for the broad spectrum of organic food in a well-designed room (again, Tolix chairs are here, in black). One side has a monster beige sofa that runs the length of the room. Guacamole with nachos (€10.40), Salmon Tartar with diced apple (€10.60), Chicken curry with wild rice (€10.20). The menu travels all around the world and as such, it doesn’t really nail any of it (and most of the main dishes are lacking in salt) but it’s good enough. A small part, the selection of dips (guacamole, adzuki, and chickpeas €11.90) or the avocado on toast with crumbled cheese are perfect. The pricing is fair which is a rare thing for new openings here that tend to be all over the place with portion sizes & prices.
Oh Bo is only 3 months old and one of the waitresses tells me that it aspires to be a chain, which I can see, like a high-end organic Giraffe. And why not? A high-end chain with good enough food is welcome. Where else can you take abuela, the kids and your it bag for some oggling?

Suzy, any advice on finding French pastries (specifically a nice pain aux raisins) in Barcelona? I realize it’s kind of heresy (and I do love some of the Barcelona pastries), but we care missing France! Thanks. Love your blog. Mike and Yosvany
It is specific. And no place that I have visited comes to mind – but I recently read about this place called Le Petit Gourmet – could be a lead? http://www.lepetitgourmet.es/
Here now at Oh’Bo and am enjoying your relaxed fare suggestion. Perfect with the kiddos with the wide-open space for play and voluptuous trees to canopy us on a warm July day. Thank you again for helping us to explore this beautiful city & its culinary deliciousness!
It’s an unexpected piece of green in Barcelona. I love when I find those. See you soon.
