Koryo Korean has an interior that looks like it was put together by someone who enjoys Pinterest.
(I’m going to digress here so if you want to get straight to the bit about the restaurant – scroll down to the *)
I never got into was Pinterest. Just because – I never wanted to look up ‘cake’ and find a 12 layer rainbow cake that some one, somewhere thought was normal reaction to their three-year old’s birthday. Or creative, time intensive pin boards whose composite parts cost more than buying a pin board someone else made (and then you are left with superfluous ends upon which you stumble over for eternity).
I don’t enjoy Pinterest for the same reason I don’t like Martha Stewart because I don’t want to document the expiration dates on the warranties of all my appliances because of Martha? Sometimes shit happens that you can’t prepare for – A. And B: this woman has taken the OCD that is making her crazy and is now trying to sell it to you like it’s something you might want, moreover something you want to pay for.
To sum up – I just don’t want to know about all the things you can do with unused buttons- I have enough trouble finding the time to unload the dishwasher.
*At Koryo there are plenty of crafty touches, endearing details. Like home-made pinboards and empty glasses with a handful of dried flowers in them for decoration. Furniture that looks like it might have been found and lovingly restored but only so much – so that it still retains a charming patina.
They have Bento boxes (which I didn’t try but looked adorable). My friend and I had the bibimbap and katsu curry. They came with an array of little dishes; some steamed spinach, a salad dressed in sesame, a couple of deep-fried wontons and kimchi.
It’s was all kind of dinky and sweet – except for the main portion which was large and filling. The flavours are on the tame side but overall fun experience.
It’s worthwhile mentioning that Koryo is in the oddest of locations. It’s out-of-the-way, on a quiet square facing the Centre Cívic of Vil-la Florida so not somewhere you would find yourself walking by but rather somewhere you plan to go.

Hi Suzy,
It’s really possible that I’m just dumb, but you write so crazy that I literally read this blog entry (after foolishly clicking on a link someone sent me without checking what is was first), wondered why the pictures don’t match the words, got confused at the end and only figured it out because I LITERALLY read backwards up the blog before suddenly realising that you are talking about a restaurant.
Granted, I should have checked the link before clocking it, I mean, I might have ended up anywhere… but it seems that maybe I have…. or have I?
Ha! Well this one was out there I guess. The point I was making is it is a space that looks like it was conceived by someone who is into crafting, which makes me think of Pinterest and Martha Stewart. Foodie in Barcelona is about food but it is also about life and thoughts so sometimes those make up part / or in this post a lot of the blog. Sorry if you felt lost.
Actually – you know what? I’ve switched it around a bit. Now people who want to read just the restaurant bit can jump down to the *. Thanks for your comment.
Hi Suzy,
I discovered your blog in desperation to find the best food places in Barcelona (not that there aren’t any) but going to food places in a new city can be a scary experience! I moved to Barcelona after living 10 years in London, enjoying the London foodie scene until now.
Today I followed your advice on visiting Koryo and I am happy I did so as I loved the food there, it was truly authentic!
I read your about section and loved background and international experience.
