Les Filles is a handsome new Cafe in Gracia. It comes from the similarly named Loup Filles, a local fresh pressed juice brand. They are somehow related to En Compania de Lobos: a restaurant group in Barcelona that kills it with their design. They, in turn, are an offshoot of the Tragaluz group. I bring this up because whenever these groups are involved the design is guaranteed to be notable.
Stunning cafe with a terrace in the Gràcia neighborhood from the women behind Loup & Filles fresh pressed juices.
This cafe in Gracia is stunning. Inside and out. It is located on carrer Minerva, a few doors down from Berbena. It’s easy to mistake the wood slatted fence for a private property unless you spot the menu affixed to it. Walk through there and you have your pick of chairs and sofas in teals and greens under sturdy white linen umbrellas. There are potted plants underfoot and fresh flowers on some of the tables.
Inside the gorgeousness continues. There is an open shelf piled with covetable ceramic, maybe it’s Parament no Ikea here. A string of lights is set off by a wall that has been painted a deep ultramarine blue designed by The Light Squad Studio. Off to the left is an open kitchen. I’m here opening month and there is palpable stress emanating from the chef working his way through the breakfast orders. Cakes and viennoiserie are displayed on the counter.
Les Filles celebrates brands like Slow Mov coffee roasters and Nanimarquina rugs keeping the enterprise as local as possible.
Coffee is from Slow Mov, a roaster close by. I order a yogurt with the house-made muesli and am surprised it only costs 3.50€. My friend has the avocado toast, a fitting order for the space we are in. The cutlery, the wooden bowl, the ceramic, it’s all pretty enough that I want to drop it into my tote bag. I wonder why they don’t sell some of it. On the way to the bathroom, I step on Nanimarquina rugs.
Having absorbed as much interior deliciousness as we can, we pay our bill and are on our way. Bumping into Katie of El Pot in the garden on the way out.
