I like the lightening bolt logo. The superhero implication it carries. As if a coffee from Syra will equip me via transference with a super power. It’s not far from the truth. Caffeine is a legal zing said to combat everything from diabetes to cirrhosis to stupidity.
Syra has new digs. A side street off the creaky looking Mercat de Llibertat. Small, though not as small as the original location. The long narrow space terminates in some black curtains with a back-lit sign that proclaims: Coffee & Pastries to Go
Said pastries are mostly creative cookies. Large green Matcha cookies or red-hued red velvet cookies. There are also bars of various sorts and granola pucks. Without fail, I get the big Lukumas sugar glazed doughnut.
If I find a seat, I like to hang about. It’s a fun crowd that gets their coffee here. Young loquacious student types zinging even before they’ve paid for their zing. Unlike myself, that only begins to feel the stirrings of a buzz as I gulp down the last dredges of what is a very accomplished cup of coffee.
